1986年にイタリアで設立されたファッションブランド、CoSTUME NATIONAL。ミニマルなスタイルでありながらカッティングエッジ。オーセンティックにして前衛的な佇まいがある。モードファッションの最前線を行く世界的に人気の高いブランドです。今回、そのCoSTUME NATIONALとの共同プロジェクトで完成したのが、銀箔を施したレザーのライダースジャケット。またひとつ、前例のないプロダクトが実現しました。「日本で培われた箔押しの技術とイタリアを由来とする私たちの衣服が重なる事で、今までにない提案ができるのではないかと思いプロジェクトを進めることになりました」（CoSTUME NATIONALクリエイティブチーム）。金箔や銀箔は建築や家具などの装飾に使用されている印象をお持ちとのことでしたが、ウールやデニムなどの様々な生地でテストを繰り返すことで、レザーと好相性であることを発見。衣服になった時の仕上がりも、ご覧の通りクオリティの非常に高いものとなりました。特徴は、あえてランダムな表情が出るように仕上げていること。レザー素材に均一に綺麗に箔を貼るのは可能ですが、今回はあえて衣服の状態にしてから箔押し。そうすることで生地の縫い合わせの部分には箔が乗らないなどの不規則さを演出して、手作業の面白さとしてあえて生かしています。「今回のプロジェクトを通して、“箔”に対する可能性の認識が変わりました。どんな衣服にも技術があれば貼ることができる。歴清社さんの技術と取り組みには、今までにない様々な可能性を感じます」。箔を使った衣服は、ともするとイベント的なリアリティのない衣服に仕上がってしまいますが、今回はあくまでファッションとして成立する、リアリティのある衣服として着地。またひとつ、箔の新しい可能性が見えてきました。

This time, Rekiseisha has completed a collaboration project with CoSTUME NATIONAL by making leather racing jackets using the silver leaf technique. It’s an unprecedented product that we are excited to release. “We have decided to proceed this project, believing that it will become an unprecedented proposal by overlapping Japanese technology of covering with silver leaf and our clothes that have been made in Italy,” CoSTUME NATIONAL Creative Team says. Although its Creative Team had the impression of gold and silver leaf used for architectural and furniture decoration, it was found that it is also well-compatible with leather by repeating examinations using various fabrics such as wool and denim. When you see the actual clothes, you would notice that it has also become very high-quality as you can easily see. The point is that they have tried to finish in a way that would give a random expression. It is possible to finish the leaf uniformly and beautifully to the leather material, but this time they tried to put it on the state of clothes beforehand. By doing so, it produces irregularities such as the leaf does not cover on the stitching and it has made use of fun, manual work. The Team says, “Through this project, the awareness of the possibilities for “leaf” has changed. If you have this skill, you can put leaf on any kind of clothes. The technology and efforts of Rekiseisha have various possibilities.” The clothing with leaf may become unrealistic sometimes, but this time it has accomplished a realistic and new way to show fashion. Another thing is that through this collaboration we are showing that the possibilities of using leaf in this way are endless.
